Dog Training Tips:
Dog training can be difficult at times, but with a few tips you can drastically improve your training success rate. Nobody wants to be the owner of a dog that has obedience problems. It can be downright embarrassing and frustrating for you. Therefore, the main purpose of having an obedient dog is so that your dog can be a functional member of the human world.
Take a look at our dog training collar guide to help you take control of your dog!
- Make sure you differentiate your tone of voice while training in training. For instance, if you want your dog to sit or stay still, use a strong and firm tone. On the other hand, if you want your dog to come towards you, use a happy and excited tone. This allows the dog not to get confused when trying to distinguish different commands.
- If your dog learns a new trick it is essential that your praise your dog with some kind of treat or toy. It is important for the dog to know that if he does something right, he’ll be rewarded.
- Some dogs learn quicker than others. Therefore, it is necessary to have patience while you train a dog. Focus on one trick per training session and always end on a positive note. Make the dog feel appreciated with a 5 minute play session where commands are not necessary after training. It is important that the dog associates the time spent with his owner as something positive and not negative.
- Training with a dog collar is the most effective way of training a dog to learn commands. Training collars are made specifically for different size dogs. So don’t worry, your dog will not be harmed when training with a training collar system. It is by far the most popular training method for amateur and professional dog trainers.
- Just like a child, dogs get distracted easily when trying to learn something new. So it is essential that you train in a location with minimal distractions. A good place would be a quiet room or secluded back yard.
- Do not get discouraged if your pet takes a while to learn a new trick. Always use positive reinforcement when training and never hit or yell at a dog. Remember, the trick is to associate a training sessions as something positive.
- The most important tip we can give you is to love your dog. Take care of your dog in every way possible. Remember, a dog is mans best friend.
